The inside brim is size stamped "Q64", denoting production by the F. W. Quist, Esslingen factory. The rear skirt is hand painted with its original owner's name, "K. Eggers", which has somewhat concealed the lot number, with just "7_2" remaining legible. A search for the veteran in the Volksbund Grave Registry unfortunately reveals too many results to be conclusive. The helmet
